SERIES 2
Land Double
We’ve moved to the Middle Lake Field at Wood Dale Farms. It is sunny with clear skies and it’s warmed up to 70 degrees with a 7 mph North wind.
Series 2 is a land double using Rooster Peasants. The mat faces South.
Bird #1 is a dead Rooster Pheasant, thrown left to right, landing 185 yards from the running line. The bird lands between a shrubby bush and a thick band of cover. The line to this bird requires the dog to cross a gravel road, slide tight to a large patch of bushes before running down the hill to their bird. We will refer to this bird as L for Left.
Bird #2 is a dead Rooster Pheasant, thrown right to left, landing 80 yards from the running line. We will refer to this bird as R for Right.
This test is taking approximately 2 minutes per dog to complete.

Test Dogs started out the day at 7:44 am, beginning with "Daphne" with handler Kody Reynolds and then "Breeze" with handler Wayne Turczi. This gave the competitors a good idea of what they might expect for the first series.Our first running dog #49 MILLCREEK’S DRAKE’S BAY HANNAH, “Hannah,” LF, with handler Brad LaFave came to the line at 8:02 am.
The weather during this series was sunny with a highs in the 60s

58 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of 4 hours and 9 minutes, which averages out to be just over 4 minutes per dog.

R – Into the cover under the arc, turned but missed it. Ran out in front of the cover for a few trips, then back into the cover and he got it!

F – It took 6 shells to get this bird out of the sky - B went out across the terraces, back and forth a few times and then over to her bird.
R – Across the field and into the cover between the fall and the gunners - she took a left turn and she had her bird.
23. TIME THIEF, “Racer,” LM, Christian Alt
Racer and Christian came to the line at 10:35 am
F – Across the terraces, right turn and straight to his bird!
R – Out across the field, into the cover, hunting in the cover - stayed in the cover and then over to locate his bird.
22. SEASIDE’S JELLY BELLY, “Reagan,” LF, Marc Patton
Reagan and Marc came to the line at 10:32 am
F – Across the terraces, she made a right turn, looped right to hunt, made a couple loops and she got her bird.
R – Out across the field, straight into the cover and her bird. Perfect.
21. CANNON’S 90 DAY WONDER, “Ensign,” LM, Dennis Long
Ensign and Dennis came to the line at 10:27 am
F – Over the terraces on a nice line to the bird.
R – Entered the cover, made a few passes to the right and then to the left of the bird. Came out of the cover and then back in - he grabbed his bird!
20. SUNNY AND WIND NO DUCKS GIVEN, “Sunny,” LF, Caleb Brown
Sunny and Caleb came to the line at 10:24 am
F – Headed out right but turned and went right for the bird.
R – Very nice line to this bird.
19. ROCKY CREEK’S WAR CHIEF OF THE BAYOU TECHE, “Chief,” LM, Jake Cawthon
Chief and Jake came to the line at 10:42 am
F – Nice line angling across the terraces, a quick circle and he was on the bird.
R – A little left and then right and he got his bird.
18. A FIERY STREAK IN THE MIDNIGHT SKY, “Comet,” LM, Cole Baker
Comet and Cole came to the line at 10:09 am
F – Came in under the arc - worked his way right - hunted wide right and then back towards the guns. Back right and out to the bird.
R – Into the cover for a hunt - got wide left and then back to his bird.
17. SHERRY WAS A WAITRESS, “Sherry,” LF, Heather Pfluger
Sherry and Heather came to the line at 10:05 am
F – Perfect!
R – Into the cover for a right turn - out and to the left of the gunners - back into the cover and she got her bird.
16. BRENTWOOD COVES TAILS OF TULLY, “Tully,” LF, James Hard
Tully and James came to the line at 10:01 am
F – Nice job on a long bird!
R – Bird landed in the open and she went straight to it!
